I used to love Easter sunday back in Parkchester, in the Bronx.  Waking up to easter baskets of candy.               I mean who wouldn't like it? The men all in their new or best suits, the women all in their Easter bonnets and freshly purchased, from Macy's or Cornells. Off to Church at St. Helenas  or if you lied that way St. Raymonds, or maybe, St. Anthony's. After that home to that candy.,Maybe a quick stop at Pakula's bakery and a black and white cookie. We had the Easter Parade at the oval (they gave trophies for the best dressed and such. It was an amazing day. next probably off to grandmas for Easter dinner, a big ham with all the fixins.
But now that I'm a bit older and a thousand miles away,  I've learned that this day we celebrate is really quite different, clothes and food don't make a person.  enjoy your fa ncy hats and suits. Your banquets  and goodies......                        but most of all enjoy your Savior.  the only one who could give you redemtion, life, forgiveness at a price you could never pay .
