A faint pink light
breaks forth on the distant shore
as if a candle on a nightstand
flickers before it fades
creating that slim spiraling plume of grey
My senses,at first confused
sights and sounds and scents
Oh, how some memories though long ago
compete with all the melee that is today
Yes love, I remember, running away from the gala
hands clasped tightly, together we made our way
to a place neither of us knew
A country road or path it appeared so quaint
Walls of feildstones marked the day
and old hickory fence posts fulfilled the scenery
Instead of what we suspected to be dusk
what a joy to find that light growing stronger
Hours and hours to go before night
wrapped tightly to each other we spent that day
In a moment, a lifetime of knowledge and wisdom
You and I one for eternity, never can it change
never can it be forgotten by the stars
that eventually broke through the silence
as that orange red glow sank low
framing the western horizon
casting a wondrous glaze of innocence
upon the silhouette of your face
more lovely, more precious more aglow
still fresh in my mind , how much
more precious than mama's antique cameo
The years that have wrecked our bodies
the tears that we cried apart, and together
no matter the hurts we have carelessly cast on each other
The trusts we have broken
Put all blame on me, tie a millstone round my neck
Cast me overboard into the deep dark sea
It makes no difference, All there is to me is we,
You are mine, I am yours,
and we, we are HIS.
